精彩嘉祥|楊惠名師工作室活動(dòng)預(yù)告：大嘉講堂第五講

為搭建更好的嘉祥教育集團(tuán)學(xué)科交流平臺(tái)，增強(qiáng)一線教師的教研能力，促進(jìn)教師的專業(yè)成長(zhǎng)，給一線教師展示成果的機(jī)會(huì)，“楊惠名師工作室”特設(shè)“大嘉講堂”，每月舉辦一次學(xué)員講座，讓“大嘉”成就大家，讓大家成為“大家”。
本月大嘉講堂特別邀請(qǐng)楊惠名師工作室導(dǎo)師John Robertson先生主講，他的講座將為新學(xué)期老師們高質(zhì)量的準(zhǔn)備工作提供腳手架。下面是本次講座的內(nèi)容說明。
Mr.John Robertson will be pleased to engage with all teachers in this online presentation.
The engagement will be divided into three parts:
First, Mr Robertson and teachers will discuss the value of making connections in our teaching practice between theory, method, design, and procedure. While some educators may assume that theory is so abstract as to become practically meaningless for teaching, we will see how having even a basic understanding of the theoretical assumptions on which our pedagogy rests can have great impacts on how we view ourselves as educators and our students as learners. Ultimately, we will see how having such an understanding is necessary if we are to truly connect our practice with the national curriculum as it is laid out by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Next we will look forward to our first week back in school with our students. We will discuss how we can take the opportunity to set the right tone for the entire year by establishing expectations, rules, procedures, and norms to be abided by not only students but by ourselves. Effective design and implementation of a syllabus will be instrumental to this end.
Finally, we will discuss the techniques which can be used to effectively deliver instruction to multi-level classrooms, that is, classrooms with students of varying levels of language proficiency and ability. Multi-level classrooms are an almost constant presence in our teaching practice, but certain policy changes in how our schools recruit students make this issue an especially important topic to address.
It is hoped that the entire session is an engaging conversation rather than a lecture, but time will be allotted at the end for questions and comments that may arise.
Mr. Robertson
Mr. Robertson is currently a teacher and curriculum developer at Chengdu No. 7 High School where he coordinates the International Understanding course. Mr. Robertson has lived and taught in Chengdu for 7 years. In addition to the secondary level, Mr. Robertson has taught at local universities as well as developed business English curricula for international companies in the city. Mr. Robertson has an undergraduate degree in Chinese from University of Maryland, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Education with Johns Hopkins University.
